Miss Sue

Owner/Director

Sue purchased the school in January 2023 after serving as its consultant and director since its inception. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Psychology with a concentration in Early Childhood Education, along with a Connecticut Director Credential and Head Teacher Certificate.

Sue has dedicated more than 40 years to the field of early childhood education as a teacher, director, and owner. In 2003, she designed, built, and opened her own childcare center in Wallingford, licensed for 85 children, which she successfully owned and operated until selling it in 2017.

Although she briefly retired, Sue quickly realized how much she missed working with children and returned to doing what she loves most-creating a nurturing environment where children can learn, grow, and thrive. In 2023, she purchased the school and renamed it Shoreline Early Learning Center, continuing her commitment to providing exceptional early childhood education for local families,

Sue lives in Killingworth with her husband and two sons. Outside of school, Sue enjoys boating, traveling, and spending time with her family and friends.

Miss Karli

Toddler & PreK Teacher

Miss Karli has been a valued member of our team since January 2021, beginning her journey with us as a toddler teacher! For the past two years, she has loved teaching both PreK and our toddler class and continues to bring creativity, energy, and passion to her classroom every day. A Clinton native, Miss Karli graduated from the University of Saint Joseph with a bachelor’s degree in Child Study. She brings with her many years of experience working with young children. While attending the University of Saint Joseph, she spent two years employed at The School for Young Children preschool in West Hartford and also completed two semester-long internships in PreK classrooms.

Miss Karli is known for her fun, hands-on teaching style. She loves creating messy sensory bin activities, art projects, and incorporating music and movement into her lessons through singing and dancing. Her favorite part of teaching is watching her students light up with excitement as they learn and grow. Outside the classroom, Miss Karli enjoys shopping, traveling, and spending time with her large and lively family.

Miss Shannon

Toddler Teacher

Miss Shannon has been a beloved part of our school community for over two years and has truly found a home here. Miss Shannon started as a floater but quickly worked her way up to being with the school-aged kids in the summer and now being one of our toddler teachers! She absolutely loves being part of our school, and it’s easy to see why the kids adore her right back! Her warm, caring personality and genuine love for working with children make her such a wonderful addition to our community. Miss Shannon loves to create art, make play-dough and do fun science experiments with our toddlers!

Shannon is originally from Andover, Connecticut, and enjoys spending her summers in beautiful Old Saybrook. She currently attends the University of Hartford, where she is pursuing her degree in Elementary Education. We are so lucky to have Shannon as part of our school family!

In her free time, Shannon likes painting, running, reading and spending time with friends and family.

Miss Rebecca

Toddler Teacher

Miss Rebecca has been a valued member of our team while working with our toddler class. Her kind, gentle nature and genuine love for young children help create a warm and welcoming classroom where toddlers can learn through play, exploration, and positive relationships.

Rebecca loves reading stories to her toddlers as well as making creative, themed art projects with them.

In Rebecca’s free time, she enjoys spending time with family, boating, the beach, sports and going on long walks.

Miss Paula

3 Year Old Head Teacher

Miss Paula brings over 30 years of preschool classroom experience, 18 including years at The Sherwood School. Paula studied at Three Rivers Community College with her course studies focused on Early Childhood. She has a Child Development Associate and Head Teacher Certification. 

Paula has a passion for hands-on learning and loves encouraging children to explore and get messy. She often brings the outdoors into her classroom, helping children connect with nature and discover new things through observation and play. Her classroom is a warm and welcoming place, where children know they can always find her lap for a special story or one-on-one time. When she’s not teaching, Paula enjoys baking, gardening, sewing, and crafts. She is also a proud mom to her son, Nathan, and grandson.

Miss Sharon

Pre-K Teacher

Miss Sharon brings a wealth of experience and passion to the classroom, with 35 years as an educator in both private and public school settings. She holds both a bachelor’s and a master’s degree in Education from Central Connecticut State University, and throughout her career has taught students from preschool through fifth grade.

After retiring a few years ago, Miss Sharon quickly realized how much she missed the classroom—especially the joy on children’s faces when they master a new skill. This love for teaching led her back to education, where she worked part-time at The Sherwood School in Old Saybrook until its closure during the pandemic.

Miss Sharon comes from a small, close-knit family. She lives with her husband, John, their son, Ryan, who is currently in graduate school, and their two beloved Australian Shepherds.
